Endowment Given in Honor Of Retired Martinsville Judge and Wife

PHCC is very pleased to announce a $100,000 endowment given by Kim and David Darnell in honor of Kim's parents, lifetime area residents Judge Kenneth M. and Norma P. Covington.
 

Judge Covington, 87, earned his Bachelors Degree from Bluefield College and his law degree from the University of Richmond. He served as Henry County Commonwealth Attorney for 12 years and retired as a Henry County Circuit Court Judge. Covington is a U.S. Army Korean War veteran, earning the Bronze Star for meritorious service.
 

Norma Covington, 82, earned her Bachelors Degree from Radford College. She has been an active member of Broad Street Christian Church, where she served as Christian Women's Fellowship chairman for many years, in addition to other leadership roles. Mrs. Covington has also been active in the Martinsville Garden Club, Martinsville Literary Club and a volunteer for Grace Network.
 

"My parents care very deeply about this community and recognize that its future success depends on education. We are very proud to honor my parents in a way that supports the continuing education of area students." said daughter, Kim Darnell.
 

"We are so pleased to accept this endowment honoring Judge and Mrs. Covington." said PHCC President Dr. Angeline Godwin. "This gift ensures our community will continue to be enriched by two people who have given so much to the Martinsville and Henry County area. This gift bearing their names will influence the lives and goals of future PHCC Patriots."
